Mormon dating website does big business

A dating website catering to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is doing big business in Alberta.
LDSSingles.com helps Mormons find a potential spouse from within the church, which puts a premium on marrying young.
“If you are single at the age of 25, it starts feeling weird,” said James Green, a vice-president with the online dating service.
In fact, single Mormons can quickly start to feel out of place in the Latter-day Saints (LDS) community, he said.
“My friends and close associates were all married. At one point I was the only single person at the company,” he said.
Since its creation in 1996, LDSSingles.com has had over 500,000 member profiles posted. Alberta is the company’s largest Canadian customer base.
Offering mate matching tests and a “relationship readiness IQ test,” the website claims that most Mormon church wards have two or three couples that met each other through the service.
