1. Microsoft redesigns Windows logo
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 17, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
Microsoft on Friday announced
to redesign the logo of Windows software, making a fundamental
change to the iconic four-color Windows logo users have been used
to for 20 years.
Meshing with the Metro design of Microsoft's upcoming Windows
8, the new logo is a slightly-angled blue block with a thin white
cross in the middle, making it look like a window instead of the
four-color wavy flag in the past.
2. Google offers new ways to unlock Android
WASHINGTON, Feb 17, 2012 (UPI via COMTEX) --
Google Inc. plans to offer new ways of unlocking future Android operating
system smartphones, a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office application
indicates.
Locking a smartphone is intended to prevent accidental or unauthorized
access.
3. Google tracked millions of iPhone users
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb 17, 2012 (UPI via COMTEX) --
Google secretly tracked millions of people's iPhone and computer Web
browsing until a U.S. researcher discovered the scheme, The Wall Street
Journal reported.
Google Inc. and other advertising companies used special computer code
that tricks Apple Inc.'s Safari Web-browsing software into letting them
monitor users' Internet habits, even though Safari, the most-widely used
smartphone Web browser, is designed to block such tracking by default, the
Journal said.
