SATURDAY, FEB. 25
Chatham’s Stanley Congregational Church, United Church of Christ,
will present a benefit concert, ‘With a Song in My Heart,’ at 5
p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 25, at the church at 94 Fairmount Ave. The
program will feature some of the regular guest singers with the
church’s music program, many of whom also sing musical theater. The
performers will include soprano Karen Cantor, tenor Jeffrey Dopson,
baritone Kevin Gardner, soprano Tracey Lynn Haskell, bass John
Lamb, tenor James Ludlum, soprano D’Angelique Dopson and soprano
Alice Regan Moynahan. All have appeared as leads in local theater
productions and some have professional credits as well. The songs
will range from operetta through musical theater, with ballads,
comic patter and novelty numbers. The singers will be accompanied
by Clifford Parrish, the church’s music director for the past 36
years. In addition to his work in classical choral music, Parrish
has extensive theater experience as a director and a musical
director. He has received New Jersey Association of Community
Theater awards for his musical direction. He most recently directed
“Little Women” at the Barn Theater in Montville Township, and was
the music director for the Chester Theater Group’s production last
summer of “Grey Gardens” at the Black River Playhouse in Chester.
The concert will benefit the music program at Stanley
Congregational Church and the New Jersey Food Bank, equally. The
suggested offering is $20, but it will be a free will offering at
the conclusion of the concert. All are invited. The church is
accessible to the handicapped. For information, visit www.stanleychurch.org or call
