Kennel admits lying to owner after dog mauled to death
The owners of a dog mauled to death at a dog daycare say they're considering legal action against the daycare managers who tried to cover up the death by telling them their pet had run away.
Owners and employees of Montreal Dogs even helped in the weeklong search and put up posters offering a $5,000 reward, despite the fact they knew the dog had been decapitated and partially eaten by dogs at their facility.
"I can't tell you how bad it is," said Penny Glen, sister of the dog's owner, Peggy Ranger.
"We want the story out there. These people should not be running a business taking care of other people's animals."
The owners of the Cete des Neiges daycare say they lied to shield their longtime customers from the pain of the truth.
Glen and Ranger dropped off the six-year-old Shih Tzu on Feb. 7 for a few hours at Montreal Dogs, as they've done with their pets for the past decade. Glen has a testimonial on the daycare's website, calling Montreal Dogs "the best of the best."
