Should I bother learning PHP for web designing?

I currently know HTML and CSS (I own a couple sites and code layouts when I get bored), and I plan on web designing as a career also. Should I bother learning PHP, or anything else you recommend? I heard it is higher pay, but not sure if I really should

If you intend to make a career in web development, you MUST learn some server side languages and databases. Php is the most powerful language for the web, and its associated database (mysql) is also the most powerful on the market.

This position is responsible for creating and executing innovative multimedia marketing campaigns, maintaining the Profiles web sites, and acting as liaison with our Information Technology group.

The ideal candidate for this position will have advanced written and verbal communications skills; the ability to develop and manage domains on a server; computer skills that include advanced proficiencies with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, and Internet web browser. Must be familiar with social media web sites (LinkedIn, FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.

Must have completed at least 60 college hours; Bachelor’s degree preferred (in web design, marketing, graphics design, or some area of computer science), along with at least two years’ experience working in a similar role.
