Teenpreneurs get busy
A CROWD of about 35 people attended a Sunshine Coast Council library workshop in Maroochydore last week designed to teach teenpreneurs how to turn their hobbies into a business.
And at least one attendant, who is still at school, had set up her online business selling resin jewellery on the Made It site within days after the workshop.
Successful eBay store owner Belinda Ford, who is also the manager of the Maroochydore Bendigo Bank, presented the first session at Cotton Tree, with f.rock fashion designer Helen Sattler leading a similar seminar at Kawana.
Ms Ford runs Retro Au Go Go, selling 1950s inspired rockabilly clothing and accessories online. She and her husband have spent four years building it up to a point where it generates sales all over the world and enough income to make her bank job redundant.
"But I love working at Bendigo Bank so much, so I wouldn't leave," she said.
"I have 17 years retail management experience in small business and David Jones and Myer, as well as 17 years in bank management.
