In creating navigation on a website, why would it list the document next to the navigation title?

I am having an issue in my website horizontal navigation design where each tab displays the following in the navigation bar:

Home (index.html)
About (about.html)
Portfolio (portfolio.html)
Contact (contact.html)

Hi Jennifer,

Open the file in a plain-text text editor (like notepad or notepad++) and carefully delete the text you don't want.

Save the file and upload to your website.
