UW-Stout students making tracks in music scene by printing T-shirts

If you're into Eau Claire's music scene, you've probably seen
Aaron Brice and Tim Brunner's handiwork.
Brice, 22, of Eau Claire, and Brunner, 23, of Green Bay, have
built their apparel business, Ambient Inks, from scratch by
printing T-shirts for area indie rock bands, including Grammy
Award-winning Bon Iver, Halloween Alaska and We Are the
Willows.
Their success is noteworthy, in part, because they aren't even
out of college yet.
"We would never have had anticipated" that business would have
taken off the way it has, Brice said recently at Ambient Inks'
shop, 320 Putnam Ave. "We just started doing it out of our garage
and basement."
It was as freshman roommates at UW-Stout in 2007 that the young
men discovered their shared interest in screen printing, a
technique used to print designs on T-shirts and other apparel.
Lisa Crotty, who teaches print graphics classes at Eau Claire's
Memorial High School, said Brice took all her classes and spent
hours working on T-shirt prints.
