By Chris Faraone. He’s a Boston journalist. So, I mean, that amongst other things. I’ve got, like, a mountain of books, and I kinda start a bunch at the same time, and one of them will totally just fucking claw me and drag me in until I finish it, but right now I’m kinda just reading a bunch of different books at the same time.
AVC: You were a journalism major in college, and a lot of your blog posts are well written. Having written countless lyrics and poetry, have you ever tried longer forms of fiction or nonfiction?
SF: Yeah, but it’s never been my strong suit. I never jumped in head first; I just sort of dabbled in it with a very short piece here or there. But most of my writing is dedicated to lyrics, and that’s how almost all of my creative energy is channeled, through the play of words and rhymes and how they link ideas in an interesting way. I’m pretty sure I could redirect that into prose, but it’s just never been my focus at all. It wasn’t something that really nagged at me, something that I felt like I needed to do, so it’s always been sitting on the back burner. But I would like to do that sometime. I mean, it might suck. [Laughs.] I don’t know, I mean, I’ll do it anyway, but there’s nothing that I’ve done that makes me think, “Yes, I’d be great at that.” Someday what I might do is just link all my status updates together into one long book, and no one will be able to comment at all and I win. [Laughs.]
